We publish original Hindi, Hinglish and English horror fiction — ghost stories, haunted-house tales, urban legends, chudail and jinn lore, village horrors and psychological thrillers — written by a growing community of independent Indian writers.
Every story on Pretika is written by a real person, for readers who want the kind of desi horror that big platforms rarely publish: kahaniyan rooted in our own towns, rituals, folklore and fears.

Pretika's stories are written mainly in Hindi (Devanagari), with Hinglish and English stories alongside them. The interface itself is fully bilingual — a reader can switch the whole site between Hindi and English at any time — and stories can be filtered by the language they are written in.

Writers keep the rights to their work, choose which episodes are free and which are premium, and build a following of readers who are notified when a new episode goes up.
Do writers earn money on Pretika?
Yes. Writers on Pretika earn from readers directly: readers unlock premium episodes and send gifts using coins, and those earnings accrue to the writer's wallet and can be withdrawn to an Indian bank account after KYC verification. Nothing is charged to a writer to publish.
Are the stories on Pretika real or fiction?
Every story on Pretika is a work of fiction, including the ones written in a first-person, 'this really happened to me' voice — that is a horror storytelling convention, not a claim of fact. Pretika is fiction-first and community-moderated: hateful content, sexual content involving minors, exposure of real people's private information and anything promoting real-world harm are not allowed, and readers can report any story or comment.
Does Pretika have an app?
Pretika runs in any mobile browser at pretika.in and installs as a web app — on Android and iOS a reader can add it to the home screen and it opens full-screen, with a reader's account, library, reading progress and coins carried across every device they sign in on. Nothing has to be downloaded from an app store to read a story or to publish one.
